In this course, we learn techniques to plan lessons. We set objectives (language point), anticipate learners' problems, bring materials (engage phase) and worksheets (study phase) to the class. We try to determine the approximate timing for each phase. Lessons will not always go as planned so flexibility is essential. More time should generally be devoted to the activate phase in order to make sure that students have understood and assimilated the target language in the lesson. In the study phase, one must encourage self correction and/or peer correction. Planning lessons is highly recommended for inexperienced teachers. It allows them to keep a record of what has been covered.
