i think that receptive language skills are important as students can come across some difficulties if they misunderstand say for example, a newspaper headline. So i think knowing the difference between non-action and action based is very important when students are listening to say a video or announcements that are being played to them such as the weather report as opposed to say watching TV or listening to a story. ? think its important for a teacher to introduce real life listening as it can help students when they're out in the wider world. Also words that you read are often pronounced differently from how they are taught and this can cause much confusion for the student.
