This unit was very simple and easy to read. It focused on the receptive skills--reading and listening. The unit discussed different types of reading and listening, the different purposes for reading and listening, and ways to help students practice these skills. The unit emphasizes that reading, listening, speaking, and writing are all equally important; however, for beginning-intermediate students it may be more effective to focus on reading and listening. Reading and listening allow for more information to be \"input\" into the student, which will later allow for more \"output\" and more understanding, even if they can't use all the proper vocabulary to express themselves.
