This unit discusses the productive skills which are writing and speaking. I learnt that writing id the most neglected skill when teach English as a second language, but it is still very important for the students to learn this skill. When learning to speak, there is a big difference between accuracy and fluency. Yes, it is important that everything be clear and correct when speaking, but in more casual situations, students should learn to speak freely without having to overthink everything they are saying. In a classroom, there are different types of activities including controlled activities, guided activities, and creative communication. All three of these activities can be used to help improve speaking during lesson, but also help speak for freely. It is very important that the teacher encourages their students to work and practice speaking the new language. I learnt the ways a teacher can help encourage students to speak as well as the different techniques to help with student interaction. When writing, handwriting, spelling, and punctuation are very important. English is a very difficult language, so it is important that the students know how to spell correctly. To help improve writing, creative writing can be very useful to help students practice and engage. When working on speaking and writing, there are so many games and activities that teachers can do to improve practice time. When it comes to English, speaking and writing are just as important as listening and reading. All of these factors are important when learning any language.
