We have different levels to grade students. Beginner A1, Elementary A2, Pre-intermediate B1, Intermediate B1, Upper Intermediate B2, Advance C1, Mastery c2. Different syllabus design: The structural syllabus (based on grammar complexity) The functional syllabus( based around communication) The learner syllabus(students have to input the design) The situational syllabus( is based on communication situation needs rather than grammar) When we construct a syllabus we should include one lesson for introductions and course content explanation, all pre-planned lessons on different topics, one revision lesson, plus one final assessment lesson. There are different types of tests for students: Diagnostic tests (asses the student's current knowledge to identify the areas of difficulties before the course starts). Placement tests (grade student's level in order to group them by current ability). Aptitude tests (predict student's probable future performance on a course). Achievement tests ( assess student's learning of an entire course). Proficiency tests ( assess the student's current knowledge with reference to future course). Progress tests( assess student's progress in learning specific areas taught in the classroom). Generally progress tests should be used once in a course. Examinations are: CYLE are at three levels Starters, Movers, Flyers which they are used for children 7 to 12 years old. Tests which are designed for adult examination above 13 years old are KET (Key English test) for elementary level and PET (Preliminary English test) for loer intermediate students.
