There are five classification of English teaching groups such as: 1) Beginners 2) Individuals (one to one) 3) Young Learners (YL's) 4) Business English (BE's) 5) Monolinguals vs Multilinguals. The different categories of the beginners students such as: 1) Absolute beginners - no previous English at all 2) False beginners - may have been exposed but with little retained 3) Adult beginners - highly motivated but no previous English 4) Young beginners - learn quickly but not much motivation 5) Beginners without Roman alphabet - requires a large amount of reading and writing skills The difference in teaching individual students from teaching groups is that you may not be a able to teach using the same classroom activities as normal and the only communication will between the teacher and the individual student. The difference in teaching of young learners from teaching of adults is children catch on very quickly however they are not as motivated as adult learners as it is hard for them to see the benefits of learning another language. They also have lots of energy and are distracted easily. It is important to acknowledge any work which the child completes and to make sure the lesson moves along before the students are bored. Lots of visual aids are also important in teaching of young learners. There is a great ideal of information to be obtain before writing lessons for Business English students. Some examples are purpose, what the company does, the company roles of the people attending the lesson and etc. We would the use this information in various ways to plan the lessons.
