In the Unit 2 we are getting quick look at some learning and developmental theories. Some of them are based on so to say ?pre-installed? rules of child?s physical development, some on environmental influences and some theories just mix in different proportions the two above. Names of the theories authors, given us in the unit can help familiarize ourself with content of these theories. Also, in Unit 2 we are looking at the difference between L1 and L2 acquisition, where we coming to a conclusion, that to become a success in L2 acquisition we need to adopt the same approach as for L1. Though it is unreal to repeat some conditions which child live in while L1 learning, we agreed, that adopting different approaches for different age groups, showing to a child strong purpose of learning and making L2 studies as similar to L1 as we able to, can be the best way to learn English. Learning environment, teacher?s role and position when teaching children, which we talk in the Unit 2 as well, are different from conditions for adults. Young learners are not ready for individual work, as well as they are not ready to sit at their desks all lesson. Thus furniture arrangement should be suitable for the restless inhabitants. As we divided young learners for two groups according to their ages (5-9, 9-13), we can see that they have different set of skills for where is coming that they should have different curriculum and approaches. During maturation process children?s personalities, preferences and abilities are changing, so the life of the classroom should change accordingly.
