Unit 1 Content Review The content outlined in unit 1 has taught me the value of not lecturing for the duration of a class. It is more important to involve students with the teacher and with other students, this allows for a more vibrant and dynamic learning experience, also giving the teacher opportunity to brows through the class and add to student discussions. This hands on approach to learning and can maintain focus in the class. The categories of various students calls for different teaching styles and approaches dependent on age, and spoken English level. Motivation for younger students must always be encouraged, while a higher level of understanding, sharing, and interaction is encouraged with older students. Discipline motivation and respect are earned in people, one should lead by doing and lead by example. Through out ones teaching career a large part of the job is to encourage and show kindness, understanding, and enthusiasm. These traits encourage and foster a positive environment which is more conducive to learning and student well being. A proactive approach that individualizes students needs with a care based positive approach, while maintaining a high level of professionalism is important. A good teacher cares about students, has a great understanding of the subject matter and handles themselves appropriately. Enthusiasm is worth its weight in gold while teaching, to encourage all of the positive learning capabilities and virtues. This includes student participation; a feeling of comfort and well being, and most of all a students feeling of success and accomplishment.
