Like how it stated in Unit 1, fluent speakers aren't necessarily taught english as much as we just pick it up and use it grammatically flawlessly. This chapter really tested that within my own limits. The idea of this chapter was to give an overview of how diverse english is with it's grammar as well as deposit ideas into the reader the language that comes with describing english to a non-native speaker. The chapter went through nouns: countable and uncountable, something I've not really considered until this chapter. Pronouns and how they can be confusing to international speakers. Adjectives were discussed and how their can be comparative adjectives, ones used to compare two nouns, and superlative adjectives, the \"fattest.\" Verbs, probably the hardest part of learning languages, were discussed, and I gained the insight into transitive and intransitive verbs, something I take for granted since I'm a native speaker. I also learned the terms for the various conjugations of english verbs like Past Participle, Present Participle, etc. Articles are one of the oddest things, I believe, about the english language. They are so necessary yet seem somewhat superfluous. Adverbs were talked about. For much of my life, I had mistaken adverbs for adjectives. Something like this needs to be ironed out in my own study to make a better teacher. Gerund is a term I've never really heard until now but to give a name to something I've seen so much is enlightening. And lastly, Conjunctions were discussed and they happen to be my favorite part of any language, such a pivot point in speech as well as reading. They provide the air into language.
