Teach English in Jinpu Jiedao - Shantou Shi
There are a few different types of classes an ESL teacher may end up teaching. They are classes for young learners, 1 on 1 classes, business classes, and group classes. Each type of class comes with its pros and cons. Teaching young learners can be very rewarding but they tend to have the most discipline problems. It is important to keep activities short and entertaining to hold their attentions. In a 1 on 1 class you do not have to worry about different levels of English ability among the students, however the activities will not be as dynamic because it is only you and the student. Also you can go through your material faster than in a group class. Business class students may tend to be more motivated to study English due to specific job goals they have. On the other hand classes are usually after the students have just worked all day so they may be tired in class. There are two types of group classes, multilingual and monolingual. Monolingual class students will share the same L1 and will thus tend to make the same types of mistakes. This will make it easier for the teacher to correct said mistakes. Multilingual class students are of course tend to the opposite. Since monolingual classes tend to be taught in the country where the L1 originated the students will not have much exposure to natural everyday English. Multilingual classes are usually taught in English speaking countries so the students hear natural English in their everyday lives. Since each type of class has pros and cons it is up to the teacher to understand this and find the best approach to make their lessons fun, entertaining, and appropriate to needs of the students.
