Teach English in Changxing Zhen - Shanghai Shi
The plenty of lesson planning practice I received has been invaluable in giving me experience (I did not have any prior formal training in education) and increasing my confidence in teaching. The ESA method will without a doubt stick with me for my entire career. Also, the grammar points (past, present, future tenses, conditionals) and the International Phonetic Alphabet were particularly stimulating and interesting to learn. It has not only been enjoyable for me, but it has also given me a good foundation to start a career in teaching english, and a tangible list of english language items I can now teach any time to my non-native english speaking friends. Moreover, this course has given me a higher level peek of the english language in levels of abstraction I had never conceived previously. Particularly, I am now able to break down the english grammar into four skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) and three components (grammar, vocabulary, function). This has increased my confidence in designing lessons that cover an adequate breadth of language items while giving students practice in more than one skill. Lastly, this course has given me numerous resources for activity and game ideas, something that saves me plenty of ?creativity blocks.? At the same time, this course has given me a healthy wariness against becoming overly unoriginal (eg. by depending too heavily on course books). Plan I plan to save the notes I have taken from this course, and use them directly when I start a career as an english teacher in korea Company ?Ssangyong?. I can imagine creating ESA lesson plans every day at my job, or remembering to check out the resource room of my new school, or having extra materials on hand in case of technological malfunctions or having extra class time due to early finishers. If I work in an institution for english for Specific Purposes (ESP), I will apply directly the principles in Unit 19 (particularly the ?Needs Negotiation? aspect). I also plan to use my new knowledge when I tutor my non-native english speaking friends. My friends range from the elementary to the upper-intermediate levels, therefore making much of the material very useful to them.
