This unit introduced the ESA teaching method for ESL and gave lots of ideas for planning different types of ESA lessons and structuring the patterns of an ESA lesson. I learned what the ESA method consists of: three stages, engage, study and activate. I also learned different ideas for what to do in each stage. For example, in the engage stage, the alphabet introductions game is a fun activity for students. In the alphabet introductions game, the student introduces themself and uses the first letter of their name to describe something about themself. In the study stage, tongue twisters can be used to improve pronunciation of words. And in the activate stage, students can role play a job interview to practice the vocabulary they have been learning.
