Almost everything in this unit is new to me. I had never tried to learn phonetic alphabet before. Now I see that it would be so practical to use with students since they find it so difficult to know how English words are pronounced. Intonation is the variation of volume and pitch in a sentence and there are three patterns. The rise\\fall pattern, the fall\\rise pattern and the flat pattern.The unit also spoke about articulation. The tongue, glottis, the alveolar ridge, the hard palate and the soft palate are all important to produce sounds.The manner of articulation can be plosive, fricative, affricative, nasal, lateral or approximant.
