This unit focused on the different aspects of language - vocabulary, grammar, and function - their importance, what students need to understand, and appropriate methods for each stage of the lesson. One thing that I learned is that it's often better to focus on one aspect of language during a lesson, rather than try to teach everything at once. Forcing too much material into one lesson can be confusing if presented poorly or simply overwhelming to students. By focusing on one particular aspect, the teacher can be sure to present the material effectively, and ascertain that the students have a solid grasp of the subject before moving on.
