This unit described the three tenses: past, present, and future. Although there is some debate about how many tenses exist, in TEFL courses, three tenses exist. This unit focused on the present tense, specifically present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. There are different variations of these tenses. The present simple tense has many usages including habitual actions, directions, and commentaries. The present continuous tense is used to describe temporary actions, emphasize very frequent actions, and actions in progress. The other tenses include present perfect and present perfect continuous.
