I find grammar to be one of the hardest things to get across to some students in particular. Once an habitual action is created in their minds, it becomes cemented and is very difficult to change in the flow of conversation. It takes a LOT of repetition, and I haven't been able to accurately describe WHY we use certain tenses in some situations. For example, why do we use present perfect when we are describing past actions with present results? What does that actually mean, present results?? My students sometimes are very confused with these concepts, so the ideas about creating stories and asking them guiding questions are very useful.
