I have learned the usages of Past Simple, Past Continuous Tense and Past Perfect Tense. Past Simple is used for actions completed at a definite time in the past. It is therefore used: for a past action when the time is given, when time is asked about, when the action clearly took place at a definite time even though this time is not mentioned, sometimes the time becomes definite as a result of a question and answer in the present perfect. Past Continuous usages are for interrupted past actions, to indicate gradual development that took place in the past, to express an action, which began before that time and probably continued after it.
