This section was a terrific grammar review for me. While I believe I have a very good command of the English language, I have totally forgotten the names of the different parts of speech. I couldn't have explained in words what a gerund is before completing this unit. I can see how it might be difficult for ESL students to get confused between certain parts of speech, such as gerunds and present participles (i.e. verbs ending in -ing but with different usage). This is all good food for thought as I start to get my head wrapped around how to teach these concepts to someone who does not have English language skills (or limited skills).
