It is important for the teacher to find a balance between structuring his or her class and being flexible enough to change the lesson plan in accordance with students' needs. There is no one correct way of making a lesson plan, but it should serve as a guideline and not an absolute plan to be memorized or held on to if students need more time or want to spend more time with certain activities. The lesson plan generally helps establish learning goals, it keeps track of what has been learned on that specific day, aids with the organization of materials, and helps the teacher work on personal improvements.
