Unit 14 covered the topic of coursebooks and lesson materials. What I learned from this unit, was that one should strike a balance between the use of authentic and created materials. The links to websites on which you can create material, were very helpful. I have learned that there are advantages and disadvantages to using course books and that the key element is to use the course book to your advantage by omitting some parts, replacing other parts, supplementing some parts and adapting some parts. The course book should not be used for the whole lesson and ways should be explored to match the book to the level and needs of the students.
