This unit was a little more complicated and confusing than I expected. I have learned a few things that I didn?t know before. I was under the impression that I had known all I needed to know about reporting but this unit gave me a new insight. I have learned that there are conditionals to factor in when reporting speech. I have also learned that the rules don?t have ?rules?. For an example Present Simple, continuous and perfect tenses in direct speech will change to Past simple, continuous and perfect tense in reported speech. That is not the case for past perfect and past perfect continuous tenses. They stay the same.
