This unit discussed the productive skills of speaking and writing. For speaking, some reasons for communicating were examined and also some ideas for classroom activities to get students to speak, and some reasons why students may be reluctant to do so. For writing, the concepts of spelling, layout and punctuation were looked at as will as the icea of creaative writing. Sample sample ESA lesson activities for speaking and writing were looked at. For me, the most important message from this unit was to understand the importance of an effective Engage phase to get the students interested and motivated to learn and participate in the lesson.
