Unit 15 deals with evaluation and testing. It covers on-going (continual) assessment to provide feedback to students as well as the variety of tests that check progress and inform future teaching needs. The unit concludes with a list of the many external exams offered by different agencies to non-native English speakers. For me the critical points of benefit in this unit were: getting students into the appropriate class and level to begin with; always remembering the need for feedback to students on how they are doing, based on continuing evaluation and relevant tests; and using the same assessment results as the basis for future lessons.
