Reading and listening are two equally important skills that are the building blocks of learning a new language. When I tired to learn a new language in the past these two areas were not used as much which made it difficult for me. The teacher focused more on speaking and writing, which I found difficult at times. Creating interesting topics to engage the students is great to get them interested. But giving time to pre-teach problematic vocabulary in crucial to help them feel confident. This was a good topic that took me back to when I had trouble learning a new language and gave me ideas to how my teacher could have been more effective.
