This unit deals with the course books and lesson materials. It is very important to not only have a course book but also to have supplementary materials which are generally provided by the teachers of the subject. Many course books are not interesting and not easy to understand like the simplified and interesting supplementary materials provided by the teachers. This lesson explains that these materials are in two main groups which are the AUTENTIC MATERIALS AND THE CREATED MATERIALS. The authentic materials are those provided by the school while the supplements come from the teacher. Both are useful as they perform and enhance the scope of the learners greatly. Although they are of importance, care should be taken when selecting the authentic materials. This is because students would accept anything just because its from a native speaker without verification and its authenticity. The unit is great because of the various aspects handled especially in the created material section such as -crosswords, word search, role-play cards, flashcards, gap fill activities etc. I have equally learnt about the advantages and disadvantages of the course books.
