Teachers use many different teaching aids to make the class more interesting, effective and less dependent on the text book. Some of the resouces often found in classrooms and study centers are: White/blackboard- All classrooms should have a board of some kind, or flip charts. Boards can be used for writing, drawing, stcking things on etc. This kind of aid draw and hold the attentions of students effectively. Visual Aids- Visials aids consist of pictures, real objects and photos. They are often used to illustrate meaning more quickly and effectively than through verbal explanation. They attract attention and help with memory process. Videos and DVDs- Videos can be used for many things; presenting information, giving background to a topic, various forms of dialogues and interactions, building listening comprehension skills etc. These devices can be used to stimulate discussions and aslo for communicative activities. Computers are also another teaching aid. Students can use this device to do researches etc. There are other teaching aids such as cassettes, photocopiers for copying materials for the class, course books, dictionaries amongst others.
