Teach English in Shitang Zhen - Qinzhou Shi
It's nice to see a relation between the present tenses and the past tenses. An \"-ing\" ending on a verb means it is a continuous tense of some sort, and the presence (or lack thereof) of \"be\" or \"have\" tells you more specifically which tense is being used. So, I'm feeling like I'm getting better at identifying which tense is being used, which can be helpful when one wants to construct study materials for students or design an activity for them to activate language. I liked several of the ideas presented in the unit for getting students to apply a tense, such as writing a curriculum vitae for past simple tense or pretending to be a detective for past continuous. Obviously, the age of the students has to be considered when thinking up these sorts of activities, as I imagine most grade schoolers wouldn't find making a curriculum vitae all that enthralling. However you could make it into something else fun, like listing achievements of their favorite superhero or sports star. There are plenty of ways to be creative in one's presentation of these different tenses, which always makes it more fun for me. Hopefully it'll be fun for my students, too!
