This unit focuses on the different equipment you will find in a classroom and the best way to approach using this equipment to interact with the students. In the beginning of this section, I learned about the benefits of whiteboards, smart boards, and projectors. Smartboards can be the most time consuming to prepare lessons around, while whiteboards and projectors offer less prep time while sacrificing in functionality. It is important to understand, however, how each piece of equipment can be used to help teach the students. This unit also talked about both the audio and video technology available for teachers to use, like cassettes, CD?s, or videos. The good thing about aids like these is that they help peak student?s interest. However, the teacher should always remember that some objective or task should accompany the use of these technologies. From this section, I learned that while there are many different items in the classroom that you can use to compliment your lessons, each piece of equipment has its own specific benefits and a teacher should be aware of these in order to effectively assist the students in learning the material.
