This lesson covered: 1) What makes a good teacher- patience and kindness, ability to motivate students, ability to entertain, knowledge of subject, love of teaching, etc. 2) What roles a teacher will take- manager, organizer, model, facilitator, tutor, prompter, assessor, participant, observer 3) The differences between young learners and adult learners willingness to take risks, life experiences, motivation level and source, language proficiency, etc. 4) The levels of language learning and proficiency, from A1 to C2 The video for this lesson listed the top three qualities of a teacher according to studies done around the world: fairness, knowledge about subject, and ability to motivate the students. I agree with those, since students won't respond well to a boring tyrant. I think the ability to motivate may be one of the most important qualities, since an unmotivated student isn't going to learn much at all. Likewise, the quality that is most important for learners is motivation level. The ability to experiment, make and admit mistakes, laugh at and learn from them is crucial to help buoy that motivation--for both teachers and learners.
