This unit explained traits of what makes a good teacher and learner. When describing features of what a good teacher possess, a highlight of the information was the very detailed breakdown of roles a teacher plays during a lesson. I think it is good to note that these roles should be combined, and used interchangeably throughout the lesson to make the lesson more interesting for the learners. Furthermore, if the teacher only used one or two of these roles, they would be missing out on teaching opportunities. Through this unit, I learnt the importance of these roles in relation to being a well-rounded teacher. The information that focused on learners seemed to broadly highlight various aspects, including language levels and the differences between adult learners and various stages of young learners. I learnt through reading about learners that adults are not as extensively sub-categorized as young learners. This is very interesting as despite the age range being much wider, young learners are divided into at least 3 groups. It would be interesting to learn more about the intersections of learners, not only just by age, but by gender, culture, etc.
