This unit covered a variety of unique or difficult situations one encounters in the classroom. It outlined how to approach a first lesson and what one should prioritize in this lesson, discussed beginning classes with warmers, provided tips on approaching the different language levels in a class, offered advice on managing large classes, covered native language use in the classroom as well as reluctant students, and concluded with some points on using listening texts and managing the length of activities. As with all of the units in this course, this last unit was very helpful and contained a lot of information with which I was not familiar. For instance, the section on first lessons and that on warmers were particularly valuable. Certainly, the other sections were also very instructive, but the discussion on first lessons and warmers was most relevant to the questions that I had about teaching. I appreciated the sample activities which both sections offered. Overall, this course, from unit 1 to unit 20, has been illuminating. Because I am approaching this subject with only some informal teaching experience, there was (and still is) much for me to learn.
