This unit is all about the different methods of testing that can be used to assess the students. Different tests assess different stages and parts of the learning process. It is good to know what tests should be taken when and to what purpose. Both placement and diagnostic tests should be taken at the start of the curriculum, but each with its own goal. Progress tests during the year provide the teacher with ample information regarding the level of each students proficiency with the language. Finally practice tests should be taken at the end of a unit, series of lessons or at the end of the course and should include all four domains, being reading, listening, writing and speaking.
