This unit focuses on the productive skills: speaking and writing. These two are most difficult skills to acuire when learning a language. The speaking skill requires correct pronuonciation, as well as gramatical accuracy,a large vocabulary and fluency. The writing chalange is in spelling (the most challenging in English), punctuation, layout and handwritting. Since I dealt with Japanese students trying to learn Enghlish, the most difficult for them is speaking it, due to the shame culture they live in. Writing and memorizing gramatical structures seem more easy to them. The lack of practicing English through speaking created a real large scale issue in Japanese educatinal system.
