Until this unit, to be honest, I've never taught phonetics the way it was explained here. I at most explained differences between English and American accents and sometimes, being able to copy a few asian accents, would showcase those as well. Also, most of the time I would use my own voice to provide a base accent for my students to pick up from, or play recordings of conversation of Australians, English, Irish, Scottish and other accents. There are some marginal pronunciational differences in those accents, however, also in terms of grammar, but I never really stressed that out and only taught English grammar. Now, I'd make a good use of this topic to add phonetics to my lessons.
