I enjoyed this unit. It explains the receptive skills being reading and listening. Though I take these skills for granted, I realise that I practice all the skills being predictive, scanning, skimming, reading for detail and deducing the meaning from context on a very regular basis. As a native speaker it is easy for me to flip between the skills but teaching them will be exciting. The unit then elaborates on topics, and yes, I can see that student participation very much depends on the choice of subject. Some good examples were included to strengthen my understanding as well as a sample receptive skills patchwork lesson. I look forward to learning more about the productive skills.
