This unit talks about some of the common problems that a teacher can encounter in the classroom .I learnt that during the first lesson a teacher might meet a new group(group of students who dont know each other ) or existing group (group of students who likely already know eachother and might be comfortable with eachother ). I also learnt that during the first it is important for the teacher to establish rapport between the students ,find out about the students ,find out about the students` needs/aspirations in English etc .The following activities can helpful ( questionaiare and survey ,pass the ball etc ). Warmers are very important because they motivate students to learn English and these warmers are usually short, fun ,communicative activities .e.g( hangman , pictionary ,tongue twisters ,memory game etc). More so , a teacher might be in situation were his or her students are from different levels and I learnt that face with such a situation a teacher can use the following ways to remedy things (use different materials ,same materials ,different task , pair stronger students with wearker ones etc ). Further more , teaching a larger class ,the teacher can employ a number os techniques to create a successful class like : use worksheets ,pair/group work ,clarity ,choral repitition ,etc .Finally ,the teacher can discouarge the use of native language by making sure that the activities used are appropraite to the level and the students have the necessary language to cope , the explanation should be simple and clear to all,encourage the use of English when appropriate etc . Use plenty of pair work ,controlled practice ,role-play tape recorder to encourage relunctant students to speak .
