Teach English in Jitian Zhen - Qingyuan Shi
This unit is all about the form, usages, types of errors and activate stage activities of the Present Tense with its structures in the simple, continuous ,perfect and perfect continuous tenses. I have learned the most from the activities for the activate stage. As I am a beginner ESL teacher. For the present continuous form I did not know about the non progressive verbs like love and believe that doesn't take /use continuous form. I am believing in God vs I believe in God. This unit placed the tenses in perspective for me but I still need to review the usages as English is also my second language. Games for using Present Simple where you use a map and learner must give directions to a specific location and also the picture where one can see or spot the habits of the person living there. I now know that the present continuous is a visual tense and I am going to use the charts with changing facts and have learners discussing them. Like the unemployment rate/ crime or any changing situation or situation where pictures are compared.Elicits eg he is taking a picture..Miming actions is also effective here. I have learned what is the difference between past participle (ed) and present participle(ing). Noted errors when using state verbs.\"I have been knowing her for three months takes Present Perfect,I have known her for three months.I know the reason for this error.I have learned the difference between using numbers and actions between Present Perfect Continuous (don't use with numbers)and Present perfect (use with numbers)I have written six letters since breakfast(PP) vs I have been writing letters since breakfast(PPC) Also clearer is the difference for using for(with periods of time) and since( with points of time)
