Teach English in HanguAng Zhen - Qingyuan Shi
In unit 19 I have learned how to teach special groups like adult beginners, young learners, individual students and business people. To teach beginners requires special skills and psychology. It is important to be aware of the students needs, have clear and realistic aims, encourage students to speak English in class and don't use the students mother tounge. Children need frequent changes in activity since they generally have short attention span. It is important that the teacher show signs of appreciation for what each child is doing and to use a lot of repetition in the lessons. Class dicipline and management is particularly important while teaching children. The teacher should always be consistent and fair and be aware of that the teachers behaviour and attitude is perhaps the single most important factores in the classroom and may have a major effect on dicipline. When teaching business class it can be one-to-one, in-company group or an in-school group. The business class students should be given q \"need analysis\" in addition to the regular tests to identify specific objectives of the course which the student need and to get the students to prioritize them. A mid-course evaluation should be given about half way through the course. This can be done by talking indiviually to be able to doublecheck on how the students feel about the course. In multilingual classes the students are from different countries and have no common language except English while in monolingual classes, all students speak the same language and will probably have the same language difficulties. I feel I have learned more about the differences in each group and how I can meet each students needs to be able to teach them as best as possible.
