Teach English in Dazhan Zhen - Qingyuan Shi
In this unit, I learned about different teaching aids and resources that can be employed in an ESL classroom to supplement lesson plans and get the students active and engaged in all aspects of the lesson. Physical resources present in the classroom such as whiteboards/blackboards, interactive \"smart\" boards, overhead projectors, visual aids (such as flashcards or posters), worksheets, dictionaries, and workbooks/textbooks can all be valuable teaching aids to gain and hold student attention and to supplement their understanding. However, the teacher should ensure that there is a backup plan for the use of all electronic options (just in case there is technical difficulty or even power failure) and should take care to ensure that the use of these teaching aids is always employed in conjunction with a well-thought out regimen for the class. In example, it is useful for teachers to make a whiteboard/blackboard plan in order to ensure that all main points of the lesson are demonstrated on the board, and lessons intended for a smart board should be able to be modified for a whiteboard or blackboard in case of any unexpected difficulties with technology. Online teaching aids and resources can be extremely useful in the classroom, as resources such as electronic dictionaries and fun videos relevant to the lesson can greatly improve students' classroom experience. But electronic dictionaries and other resources should not be thought of as mutually exclusive with physical dictionaries and other classroom aids; technology often fails us unexpectedly, and having physical resources to use in class that students can hold and see in front of them has its own appeal in keeping students (especially younger students) engaged in the lesson.
