This lesson discusses the unique challenges and opportunities in teaching various special groups. There are certain benefits of teaching young learners. For example, they are often ripe to reproduce and learn quickly, but they also often lack motivation so the teacher must recognize this and plan their class well with quick moving activities that keep them interested and engaged. There are also specialized situations like one-on-one lessons, multilingual classes, monolingual classes, or business English for companies, etc. Each of these situations has its pros and cons. One example is that when teaching adult students the motivation factor is often much higher although the ability to retain is lower. There are also many ways to use the unique class group to the students and teachers benefit, like learning more about the various cultures represented in a multilingual class.
