I think this chapter has been very helpful in terms of creating a course for our students, it helps with setting up a system as well as creating materials that will be used throughout the course (i.e the syllabus). It also gives method on how to gage the students in terms of different types of test to see different aspects of their learning, this could be given at the beginning of the course such as the placement test, midway or per lesson such as progress test, and even on the last day such as the achievement test. This is a good way to sort students from the start depending on skills and also needs and also to keep track of their progress throughout the course, the latter will be important not just for the students portfolio but also a requirement for the teacher to present to the company they are working for or (if self-employed) for self-improvement and record tracking.
