Since this unit was about managing the classroom, there were many practical tips to use while teaching. Many of them were common sense, but there were also some pointers that I had never thought about and will definitely use. For example, to keep the whole class attentive, I should not say a student's name first and then ask the question. I should ask the question and then call on a specific student to answer to keep all of them paying attention in case they get called on. This unit also emphasized the importance of keeping teacher talk time at a minimum and using simple words and instructions to get the point across and then allowing the students to do the work and practice their english as much as possible. While doing this, it is important the teacher has a positive attitude and creates an uplifting atmosphere in order for the students to feel comfortable, so they can learn.
