Unit 2 is an introduction to English grammar. It begins by reminding would-be teachers about the basic parts of speech that make up the language. Some of these basic elements are: nouns, verbs, adjectives, prepositions and adverbs. The unit then presents independent sections discussing the major parts of speech. Nouns are covered with respect to elements such as usage and type. The unit then details adjectives and the ways in which they are used. Articles are covered in detail. Types of verbs are discussed. A list outlining the four principle forms of commonly used irregular verbs is provided. Adverbs and their usage are explained. Additional elements covered in Unit 2 include: Gerunds, Pronouns, Prepositions and Conjunctions. Reading this unit taught me about the basic parts of speech that will need to be taught to any student hoping to learn English as a second language.
