This Unit discussed modal auxiliary verbs and how they can convey obligation, possibility, prohibition, ability and Advice, teaching Ideas were also given. The active and passive voice was discussed as well, sentence construction of the passive voice was discussed for all of the forms in the English language as well as a comparison between the active and passive voice followed by Relative clauses. The relative clauses included independent, dependent and relative or adjective clauses which were subsequently subdivided into defining and non-defining relative clauses. The Unit closed with a discussion about Phrasal verbs (3 types) as well as typical usages of them and closed with advice about how phrasal verbs might be best brought into the classroom for students as vocabulary items a little bit at a time considering the difficulty that students have with phrasal verb understanding.
