This unit explains the two productive skills used in the English language which are speaking and writing. Both these productive skills are very important because they are used for communication. Speaking as a productive skill cannot happen unless there is a reason for it likewise writing cannot happen unless there is a reason for it. Learning to speak the English language must be practiced until someone becomes fluent at it. The same way when someone is learning to write, he or she will keep on practicing until what is written is well punctuated, with the right spelling therefore attaining a good level of accuracy. The teacher plays a very big role in teaching these productive skills because the students learn or copy what the teacher is saying or writing. It should be noted too that speaking and writing are both very improtant. One can choose either one of them to communicate.
