Unit 19 covers the topic of teaching special groups. There are 5 categories of beginner students; absolute beginner, false beginner, adult beginner, young beginner, beginner without roman alphabet. There is a wide range of beginners, so multiple categories can apply to one person at the same time. Teaching individual students has many advantages, including; highly motivated students, no mixed levels, clearly defined needs, close developing relationships with students, etc. Teaching children requires sensitivity to short attention spans, frequent changing of activities, and activities should be related to the children's own interests. Teaching business English requires extra attention to the learners own particular business needs, ability to compromise and make material less challenging when necessary, and ability to challenge stronger learners while still not losing the weaker ones.
