The use of equipment is becoming more and more present in classrooms as technology becomes cheaper and more widely available. Students can use smart phones in a variety of ways (voice recordings, videos, dictionaries etc.). There is also more equipment being released every year (apps for learning languages for example). I think there are two main points that are important to remember. Firstly, equipment is useless unless teachers know how to use them effectively, so training is vital so they can maximize the use of this equipment. Secondly, new technology shouldn't just replace existing technology for the sake of it. For example, don't just use an IWB to write vocabulary when an ordinary whiteboard is just as useful. Teachers need to maximize the potential of this new technology to create unique and new learning experiences that weren't available before the technology was developed.
