The unit covers the various aspects of teaching a new language to students, such as what should be considered in selecting appropriate vocabulary/grammar/language functions to teach and what kind of activities can be done in an ESA-structured lesson. I learned that while a teacher can follow the school's curriculum and/or the provided coursebook to plan for what they'll teach to their students, the teacher doesn't necessarily have to strictly follow such guidelines; they can feel free to change/add other vocabulary/grammar/language functions to the coursework based on a number of factors, such as the material's appropriateness to the students and its frequency of use. For example, it might be good to add vocabulary/grammar/language functions that students are likely to come across and use often--that way, the students can use that material in various situations to aid in their language learning.
