This unit outlined the reasons to make lesson plans and how to do it according to the ESA structure. The unit then had me plan a straight arrow and patchwork style lesson plan. I learned what makes a successful lesson plan. I really enjoy the lesson plans. The plans are very straight forward and I believe they are very important. I like how the lessons are laid out to maximize student talk time. That is so important for English language learners and I see how it could be easy for a teacher to talk too much. I particularly like the part of the plans where I anticipate the problems that the students/teacher may have. That helps to plan for any problems that may arise. I like the philosophy of these plans(the ESA structure) and I bought the book by Jeremy Harmer that goes deeper into this structure. Although I think ITTT does a really good job explaining it, I like to have the original resource as well.
