Teach English in Xiaoqikǒng Zhen [Jiaou XiAng] - Qiannan Buyizu Miaozu Zizhizhou
This lesson is a basic overview of what is to be expected from the teacher, as well as a guide to different types of learners. The teacher's roles are divided into nine categories: manager, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, facilitator, model, and observer. Each of these are useful for teaching, but it requires an experienced teacher to discern when each role is best. Some of the roles are more suited for younger learners than adults. Adults are different from younger students in the following ways: they have a fixed view of teaching, more motivation, greater attention spans, and more life experience, but are often more nervous about performance, have a fixed view of teaching, and try to \"match\" English to their native language. In order to create a useful classroom environment, the teacher must gauge his student audience for different factors like language level, first language, and age, etc.
